There is both a 1 day and two-day workshop which offers an introduction to the grisaille and underpainting techniques. These techniques are paramount to understanding all forms of painting, whether classical or contemporary. Learn to develop your brushwork and to practice the creation of texture, tone, weight, shadow, temperature and focus, all in one tone. Mastery of the grisaille and underpainting techniques develop the artist’s ability to sketch in oil painting quickly and to render flesh, landscapes and still lifes with skill and beautiful brushwork.

The workshop includes live demonstration by Eoin Llewellyn, as well as ongoing assistance with your work and answers to any questions that arise as you are painting over the 2 days. The workshop hours (10:00-16:00 includes a one-hour break for lunch).

Eoin Llewellyn has worked professionally as an artist for the last 20 years. His works have received wide acclaim in Ireland and internationally and have received and been shortlisted for numerous prizes. Llewellyn’s work can be found in private and public collections throughout the world. He has taught art in a variety of settings including schools, colleges, prisons, and in private classes. Berlin was the first location of one of Llewellyn’s studios for teaching.

This studio taught people from all over the world from China to the US Indonesia to Brazil.

East Coast Art Studios is a unique creative space for artists, nestled in the heart of Bray, Co Wicklow.
