Why study Physics?

Physics helps us to understand the world we live in, as well as satisfying our curiosity. It develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The goal of physics is to understand how things work from first principles. The mathematical beauty of the universe at scales ranging from subatomic to cosmological are covered in courses.  Physicists are versatile and have endless possibilities. Find the right course for you here on Nightcourses.com’s database.

What will you learn?

Physics is a broad topic with many different aspects to choose from. There are lots of courses to choose from as a result.

A Leaving Cert Physics course is tailored to help students succeed in their exams. It will give them a unique advantage over other students. This course has ten units that assist children with the curriculum. They include S.I. units, circular motion, light energy, magnetism and the electron. Work, energy and power, wave motion and wave measure and atomic structure will be covered.

Radiotherapy and Its Physics courses explore the application of science to the techniques of radiotherapy in medicine. It focuses on the treatment of cancer in particular. Students will learn to consider the effects of ionising radiation on biological tissues.

Courses on Physics by Experiment provides a fascinating introduction to experimental science, with hands-on experience of practical techniques and experiments. Well-equipped laboratories and provisional supervision allow students to conduct investigations to prove or disprove their hypotheses.

Other Physics courses include Certificate in Physics, MSc in Medical science, Postgraduate Diploma In Medical Physics and a  BSc (Honours) Secondary Education in science.

Courses vary in terms of duration. Some are a week-long, some range from 4-9 months, some last a year, while others can take up to two years in total to complete.

As well as that, courses vary in terms of delivery. Blended learning combines both in-person and online lessons and allows students to gain both hands-on and theoretical skills. Some courses are delivered entirely online, such as the Leaving Certificate Physics course. This method allows students to study at a place and a time that suits them.

What career paths are available to you?

As mentioned previously, there are many opportunities available to those who choose to study physics.

Students can pursue a career in research and development, science, engineering, education and medicine. Of course, they can also become a physicist, teacher or professor, programmer and physics researcher. Law, business and even the military are also viable options for graduates, even though they are not the first options that spring to mind.

A Physics degree can lead to jobs such as business analyst, data analyst and patent attorney.

There is always the option of going on to further study. Because of the sheer volume of knowledge that comes with science subjects, there are endless possibilities that you can pursue. Whether it’s a scientific subject such as biology, chemistry or an offshoot of them, there are many courses out there to help you develop your knowledge. Many people also combine their science course with another subject in an unrelated field.
