Overview

This course will provide an introduction to major authors of poetry, drama and prose through close examination of selected texts, chosen from among those prescribed for the Leaving Certificate. The course will be of special interest to teachers and pupils preparing for the examination but the lectures will be directed towards a more general audience as well.

Course Fee 50 for the entire series, with individual lectures €5 each. There is also a concession rate of €45 (or €4 for individual lectures) available to those retired and over 65s, those on a government pension / payment plan, and the unwaged (including second- and third-level students). This rate also applies to Trinity staff and graduates, and groups of 20 or more. Teachers bringing groups of students are entitled to a free Teacher Pass.
Course Duration The 10 weekly lecture series commences in the Michaelmas Term on Tuesday 3rd October 2023. There will be no lecture on Tuesday 24th October 2023.
Course Times Classes begin at 7pm and are hosted in the Edmund Burke Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin. The lecture series will also be recorded. If you purchased a ticket to a particular lecture, to several lectures, or to the entire series, you will be emailed a link to the video recording(s) once these are available (usually the next day). All recordings will be available any time until a few weeks after the lecture series ends
