Foundation of Art drawing and oil painting

Get started on your journey to learning beautiful techniques in drawing and painting in both classical and contemporary styles.  You will be guided through the process of learning how to use brushes correctly, mix paints, composition, draw and paint landscapes and portraits or create expressive or abstract works. You can then choose to move to the next level within your area of interest or move into another area for example from portraiture to Abstraction, or The Figure to Landscape. The studio program is designed to work individually with each clients level whether that be complete beginner or mid to advanced and will progress you to the next level of painting and drawing.
Price includes 16 full days for 4 terms or  4 x full days for a single term. You have the unique opportunity to book your own dates and times that suit your schedule.  Bring your own set of brushes (or get set at studio) all paints and drawing materials supplied and a no of canvas depending on which booking you do.
You then  book additional courses to continue to develop your skills and art in the areas that excite you and to the level you wish.Past students have used these classes to:

• to study art, painting drawing at you own pace  in an open college timetable
• Develop a portfolio for admission to art or design college or for professional purposes

• Understand the flesh palette from the Venetian, French and Flemish schools of painting
• Study techniques such as grisaille, layering, glazing, sfumato, imprimatura and alla prima
• Learn how to transform initial ideas into fully-realised drawings and paintings from sketch book to finished work.
• Develop themes into a series of work for a gallery show or portfolio
• Overcome creative blocks from the home studio or fear of simply doing art

​​CONTINUING TO STUDY IN EAST COAST ART STUDIOS
When you complete this initial workshop  we would advise clients to do another course and hone in on the areas that started to interest you. Clients can also book the EVENING CLASSES  or  the DAYTIME CLASSES on  Wednesdays & Saturdays. In these sessions, you can develop your practice throughout the year and focus on whatever subjects and techniques are of interest to you, either in contemporary or classical painting and drawing. We also recommend you do the drawing course as drawing underpins all painting.
