StageScreen Classes are expanding the range of courses on offer this Autumn and are now taking registrations.

 About StageScreen Classes

StageScreen Classes are innovative and creative courses run by award-winning film director and theatre director Conor Armstrong Sanfey ALCM. Classes are kept small to ensure plenty of individual attention and development. All courses include training on stage acting as well as acting for camera for a well-rounded experience.

Diploma Course

This course is aimed at students with past acting experience. Train for an acting or teaching diploma qualification from some of the UK’s leading colleges. This course includes masterclasses in Chekhov, Mime, and Movement, Improvisation and Acting to Camera. A casting workshop with Louise Kiely Casting is part of the programme – pending availability. A full showcase in a city theatre is also included. Exams are administered in Ireland by UK visiting examiners.

Musical Theatre Course

Students will receive vocal training, dance training and acting classes. All students will take part in a fully staged musical at the end of term in a city venue. Open to all levels.

Filmmaking For Adults

This exciting, seven-week  part-time course takes students through the writing, directing, producing and filming of their own short film. The curriculum includes masterclasses from working industry people and runs periodically throughout the year. The next course starts in October.

Performing Arts Course (Part time/Full Time)

This course combines the Diploma Course, Filmmaking For Adults and Musical Theatre at a much more advanced level for a well rounded experience. The full-time course runs Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm for thirty weeks and is strictly limited in numbers. Students will take part in numerous productions, complete their acting diploma, and take part in a full-scale musical.

Interview:

Q: Tell us about your background Conor?

A: I’m a theatre and film director. Whilst completing my BA in Film production from IADT National Film School, I also trained for my ALCM Teaching Diploma. I have taught for over eight years in various schools, whilst directing numerous theatre productions around Ireland including the 2011 national tour of Stones In His Pockets and the 2013 Irish premiere of The Great Gatsby. LIFT, my debut feature film is released in America and Canada through industry leaders Screen Media Films.

Q: What makes your courses unique?

A: I think the balance. I’m very excited about the new Performing Arts Course, which includes three courses – Musical Theatre with a fully staged musical, the filmmaking course and the acting diploma course. I keep class numbers very small to ensure plenty of one to one attention. I have kept the full-time course at a very reasonable rate too.
