Thinking of learning something new this autumn? The Donahies Community School have a fantastic range of adult education programmes beginning this September. The School has been running adult education, evening classes and courses for the local community of Donaghmede, Dublin 13 since 1980. They offer both day and evening classes in a friendly environment.  The school building is very wheelchair friendly. The school also has designated disabled parking spaces, ramps into the canteen area and toilets for the disabled.

What’s on offer?

The Donahies Community School has a wide variety of courses including hobby and personal development as well as skills based classes. Most of the courses last for 10 weeks.

Computers

Computer courses include ECDL; smart technology; Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; as well as computers for beginners and improvers.

Sports and Exercise

Exercise classes include Pilates; soccer/indoor football for men; tai chi; yoga; as well as basketball for women.

Well-being and complementary therapies

You can learn about reiki; herbal medicine; mindfulness/meditation as well as mindful living.

Music

There are a number of music classes. These include a singing and vocal workshop; sound engineering & music technology; guitar; bodhrán; and tin whistle.

 

Languages

You can enroll for classes in Spanish and German. You can also learn Irish, even if you are an absolute beginner.

Psychology

The school offers an introduction to psychology class as well as a special course on understanding addiction.

Arts, Crafts and Hobbies

There are a great many arts, crafts and hobby courses. These include cooking for the home; pottery; sewing & craft work; bridge; creative writing; interior & garden design; jewellery making; oil painting/soft pastels as well as photography.
