BA Local Studies/BA Community Studies for Adult Students at Maynooth University

Applications for the BA in Local Studies/BA Community Studies is through the CAO using code MH803.

You might want to enroll if you are interested in:

– Taking an Arts or Social Science degree that allows for the maximum amount of flexibility.

– Recognition of PriorLearning

– History, geography, Irishculture and heritage, archaeology

– Adult education, social studies; community development, social policy, youth work;addictions

– Anthropology,sociology,identity, politics, gender, power, culture

– Developing training andcommunication skills, group skills, facilitation skills, consensus building and mediation skills

The BA Local Studies and BA Community Studies (MH803) have been specifically designed to provide learning opportunities for mature students on a part-time
basis. These broad ranging interdisciplinary programmes bring together eight of the University’s academic departments from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences to create the only degree of its kind in Ireland.

Adult Students (over 21 on 1 January 2023): The BA Local Studies/BA Community Studies MH803 are the only degrees designed for and dedicated to Adult Students in Ireland. These flexible degrees have been developed for people who are busy with work, family and daily life and who can’t take up fulltime university education. If you are interested in History, Folklore, Geography, Education and the Arts, the Environment, Community and Youth work, Society and Culture and you have two evenings a week free then one of these wide ranging degrees may be for you.  Study with other mature students, in small classes with subject experts and academic student support.
