This part-time, blended, Level 6 programme will introduce you to the world of creative photography for newspapers, magazines, publishing, and design agencies. The Certificate in Advertising and Editorial Photography is suited for anyone who wishes to advance and enhance their photographic skills and receive formal certification for these.

You’ll be introduced to the role of photography within communication design and will be provided with an understanding of the importance of the materials, techniques, and terminology related to specific creative and technical processes in photography and advertising. Creative thinking, ideas generation, brief solving, and shooting to fit a layout are also incorporated.

Entry Requirements This programme provides a pathway for applicants that do not have formal qualifications or training in art and design, and may be considering a career of academic study in this field. Applicants who are over the age of 23 may apply on the basis of previous work experience and a demonstration of commitment to further education. Applicants under the age of 23 are required to meet the entry requirements by holding an NFQ level 5 qualification. English Language : If English is not your native language, you must show that your English level is of a suitable standard. For further information, please contact a member of the Admissions Team.
Career Path This programme provides a pathway for applicants who do not have formal qualifications or training in art and design and maybe considering a career of academic study in this field. On completion of this course, students can progress to the first year of our BA in Graphic Communication Design progress with Design. If a student wishes to further their academic journey within Photography, they can do so in Griffith College through our BA in Photographic Media. Successful completion of the certificate’s component module(s) entitles learners to exemption(s) from the related module(s) on degree programme(s) at Griffith College. Please contact the Admissions Office for information on progression options into degrees. The parchment provided to learners completing the programme, plus their transcript of results and credits attained, may be used by the learner to confirm their achievement (and support their progression to another programme of study with another institution should they wish to do so).
