This exciting course has been created for people who have a passion for film making and storytelling on screen and have already started to experiment in these areas.
The BA (Hons) in Film, TV and Screen Media Production is conducted on a full-time, part-time and blended basis over a three-year period. The aim of the course is to assist enthusiastic students in developing the essential practical skills and knowledge required to work in the dynamic area of film, television and screen production.
- The course is designed to follow the full cycle of the film production process and has direct connections with the film industry.
- Gain skills in idea generation and development, writing for the screen and visual storytelling, financing projects, cinematography, directing, producing, sound recording, on and offline editing, VFX, and sales and distribution
- Full access to industry-standard equipment and facilities, including a fully equipped TV studio, digital cinematography equipment, production spaces and on-location sound recording equipment.
- Access to tools including Avid Media Composer, ProTools and Adobe Suite.
- 80% practical modules and 20% theoretical modules

Course Times | Full-time students must be available from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm. Full-time contact hours sometimes go beyond 5:30pm. Part-time students will have classes for 12 hours per week plus one Saturday session a month. |

Entry Requirements | This programme has been developed as a level 8 programme for school leavers as well as mature learners who wish to attain a degree in film, TV and screen media and go on to work in the industry. Learners must demonstrate a passion for screen media. No prior knowledge is assumed. - Leaving Certificate, or equivalent, learners must obtain a minimum of two H5 grades and four 4 O6/H7 grades, to include maths and a language (English, Irish or another language). - The English language entry requirements for the programme are CEF B2+ or equivalent. Candidates with English language levels below CEF B2+ must first reach this minimum standard before enrolling on the academic programme. |
Career Path | Graduates of this course have the option to continue their studies at Griffith College. If you graduate from this programme you are eligible to enter the MA in TV and Radio Journalism. |
