The biggest awarding body in Ireland is Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). QQI is responsible for maintaining the ten-level National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). They are also an awarding body and set standards for awards they make in the NFQ. However, there are a number of other awarding bodies in Ireland. Irish universities confer awards as do some professional bodies. These professional qualifications may be nationally or internationally recognised. A course provider will provide fuller details of any professional qualification they offer, and where they fall on the NFQ.
