Pre- Apprenticeship Hairdressing
Dunboyne College of Further Education
This one-year course will prepare students to work in the hairdressing and haircare industries. This is the ideal starting point for a successful and fulfilling career in the hairdressing industry. Students develop the required skills to work in a professional salon and also perfect the customer communication essential to its success.
The course will cover all key areas of hairdressing which will enhance students’ techniques and their creative and interpersonal skills. This course caters for school leavers and mature students.
It is an intense, one-year programme, which requires a high level of commitment, attendance and enthusiasm.

• ITEC qualifications in Skincare and Makeup
• To successful complete ITEC qualifications students must meet ITEC attendance requirement

| Career Path | Graduates who qualify in this area can pursue a career in styling, theatrical film work, general hairdressing work, hairdressing retail outlets or it can lead to placement as a senior 1st year apprentice in a hairdressing salon. Further study for junior and senior trade certificates can be undertaken in Dunboyne College. Graduates may further their study at Level 6 in the hair industry in Dunboyne College of Further Education or any level 7 or level 8 degrees at technological universities around the country. EMPLOYMENT PROGRESSION Students from this course are well placed to enter hairdressing apprenticeships or to gain employment in hairdressing salons. EXAMPLES OF HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRESSION: DCFE: Hairdressing Senior Trade (Level 6, 1 Year) Direct to Employment Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 7 or level 8 degrees at technological universities around the country. |
