Course Description
Creative Writing: Single Project
This Creative Writing course is designed for those writers who wish to spend a sustained period of time working on a single project of any length. Writers should have a formed idea to bring to the course which indicates its proposed overall structure and content. Part of the project might be already written but this is not required. Over the course, writers will submit sections for discussion at a weekly workshop with other writers. Projects can be in any genre or medium including novels, short stories, poetry, sci-fi, horror, crime, relationships, memoir, comedy, plays, films, TV shows, nonfiction, historical fiction, fantasy and radio plays amongst others. Alumni of other MKCW courses very welcome as well as writers of some experience. Includes expert discussion of the writing craft, weekly workshop and post-course editorial response to a submission sample, synopsis and formal query letter to publishers/agents/production companies. Doing the single project course with Martin gives me the accountability I need to ensure keep up my habit of writing. Martin is very helpful and attentive at all times and provides you with everything needed to become a professional or amateur writer.
I would give up without the encouragement so I really found it worked for me.
Martin Keaveney’s Creative Writing Introduction Course helped me to really focus on my writing technique and encouraged me to enhance my stories in a structured format. I believe that the support and information provided has helped me to focus and develop future projects. I look forward to learning more on Martin’s Intermediate Writing Course and would encourage all budding writers to take one of Martin’s excellent courses.
I could not recommend this course or working with Martin enough. The classes are relaxed and enjoyable but Martin is very professional and provides excellent support and guidance. The opportunity to read to a group of writers and receive feedback is invaluable. I really enjoyed the supportive atmosphere of the classes and the encouragement from the group. Wednesday became my favourite day of the week for the duration of the course!
I enjoyed the course. I feel more confident as a writer and I hope to continue, to complete the project.
Loved it. Was informative, entertaining and demystified the whole process from putting pen to paper right through to submitting work for publishing. Most importantly I found it a real joy to give writing a go in a very supportive space . It’s a great foundation for anyone with an interest in writing.
I looked forward to the weekly online courses as a special time to learn, practise and improve on a skill in a friendly and convenient way. Having assignments meant I had to set aside quiet thinking time during the week away from real life, which, regardless of the output, was in itself very cathartic.
I found this course brilliant. It has given me confidence to write. The classes are easy to follow and very informative.
The sharing of work within the group i found great. I look forward to doing the next level.
I loved the challenges Martin set us every month and found myself trying harder as the months progressed, I also found his reviews on my work very fair and honest.. I also got to hear other students work and I enjoyed their stories. I realized how different we all are especially writing on the same subject. Im looking forward to another course with martin.
I enjoyed the course immensely . I was not happy that the 500 words was abused repeatedly
Enjoyed the course and would recommend same to others starting out writing
I am so glad to have attended this online course of An Introduction to Irish Literature. I have had an introduction into our closest neighbour’s literature and the context for this literature. If I have the money I will keep on studying with a view to looking at Irish Women’s voices in literature. Great course Martin, thank you.
As always Martin was very welcoming and encouraging! He conducted a stellar poetry and prose course in a very inspiring way. I highly recommend it to all writers to enhance your skill set! Thanks a million Martin !
Excellent poetry workshop course. Very well guided with plenty of strong materials to stimulate the poetry development. The workshop portion of the course was well run and very encouraging.
Although a complete novice, I really enjoyed the course. Martin really connected with us all, and gave us great feed back and encouragement in a relaxed environment. The group we had was lovely, and we all bonded and supported each other too. I would highly recommend any budding writers to sign up for this course. I looked forward to Saturday mornings every week, and enjoyed setting aside writing time every day for assignments.
Each student was listened to individually and clear guidance and encouragement given. This feedback focused on positive aspects of the writing. The genres and writing tasks were explained clearly and were achieveable for the students.
The on line course work supported this.
This was my first ever writing course. I found it to be very interesting and informative. It threw up new topics each week to challenge me and helped me to explore various genres each week, many of which i would always have thought I would have no interest in, until I had to write about them. Martin made it so interesting and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend doing this course regardless of whatever doubts one may have about their own capability. Martin made this course, light, entertaining and very quiet fascinating.
