
Our comprehensive online Manual Handling Course is designed for employees involved in manual handling activities in the workplace. The course covers key aspects of Irish legislation, including anatomy, injury prevention, systematic and dynamic risk assessments, and the legal responsibilities of both employers and employees. It also includes a detailed demonstration of correct manual handling and lifting techniques.
How the course is delivered
This course is delivered fully online in two structured parts:
Step 1: Theory
The theory component consists of short, engaging micro-learning videos, followed by multiple-choice assessments. The course is accessible 24/7, allowing learners to complete it at their own pace.
Step 2: Practical Assessment (Video Submission)
After completing the theory, learners are required to upload three videos demonstrating manual handling activities, such as:
These submissions are assessed by a qualified QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor against standardised techniques. Learners are expected to demonstrate a competent level of safe handling practices.
A range of instructional videos is provided, which can be viewed multiple times before submission. Learners are encouraged to compare their own recordings with the provided demonstrations.
Once the required standard is achieved, a digital certificate is issued immediately.
Estimated course duration: approximately 110 minutes. Practical assessments are typically reviewed within two working days.

Refresher Requirement:
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) recommends that manual handling training is refreshed at intervals not exceeding three years.
