Course Description:

This module is designed to equip the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence to meet the full and holistic needs of older people in a variety of care contexts and to develop an awareness of the increasing needs of older people in the community today.

Learners will  understand the concept of the aging process, be able to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings and enhance the quality of life of the older person.

• The Aging process and its impact on the Older Person
• Working and Communicating with the Older Person
• Caring for the Older Person with Specific Needs
• Care Settings

Work Experience:  

There is no work experience / placement required for this module.

Entry Requirements: 

Candidates are required to have good communication skills.

Proficiency in English language is required. 

Note: You will need access to a PC / Laptop to access notes and to submit assignments.

Assessment:

• Project 40%
• Skills Demonstration 60%

Course Day & Time: Thursday Evening 7.00 -  9.30pm

Cost: €190 (Payment Plan Option, 2 payments of €95)
