This blended learning programme explores different models of addiction treatment, the history of substance abuse rehabilitation in Ireland, current government policy and the principles of harm reduction. Learners will examine how treatment approaches can be adapted to individual circumstances while developing research, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Delivered through online sessions and face-to-face workshops, the course includes reflective learning and an end-of-term examination. Applicants must be aged 18 or over and should generally hold a Leaving Certificate or a relevant QQI Level 5 Major Award, although other applicants may be considered through recognition of prior learning. The course fee is €300, with bursaries and phased payment options available.
