Getting to know your Sewing Machine

MACHINE SEWING FOR BEGINNERS

Getting to know your Sewing Machine

Course Description:

This introductory sewing course is designed for adults who want to develop practical sewing skills in a supportive, hands-on environment. You’ll learn how to safely operate a sewing machine, understand basic tools and terminology, and complete some beginner-friendly projects. Along the way, you’ll gain the confidence to troubleshoot common issues and apply techniques that can be used for both creative and everyday sewing needs. No prior experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Please Note:

  • Price includes fabric for learning skills at the start of the course. However, students will have to purchase a basic sewing kit and fabric for the individual items that they will make during the course. Tutor will advise on what fabric and haberdashery is needed and where to purchase it.
  • Sewing Machine:  We would encourage students to bring along their own machine. If you do not have a machine a shared machine will be provided. It is better to have your own machine so you can practice and use at home. If you are not sure which sewing machine to buy, the tutor will give you advise in the first class.
