Certificate Adult Guidance, Theory and Practice

The course had been developed by the Department of Adult and Community Education, Maynooth University in collaboration with stakeholders in the field of Adult Guidance. The course will begin to address the needs of those working in a guidance capacity with adult learners, unemployed and disadvantaged adults and those exploring career options. It will introduce people to models of labour market educational guidance and will begin to explore the theoretical principles which underpin good guidance.

The course will begin to:

• Familiarise participants with theories and approaches to adult guidance and counselling;
• Provide an opportunity for participants to develop increased self awareness;
• Develop participants’ applied skills in adult guidance;
• Provide a forum for practitioners to explore models of good practice;
• Explore the relationship between unemployment, poverty and social exclusion.

Once registered a Fee Payment Option is available upon request.

Part time students who are on courses at levels 6 to 10 on the framework of qualifications may be eligible to for the Student Assistance Fund (SAF) to help with the associated costs of attending a university course such as Travel, Childcare, Utilities, Materials etc. You should first consult: SAF Guidelines to see if you qualify and then e-mail student.budget@mu.ie to make further enquiries.
