In this seven week course students will be taken through script breakdown, characterisation and screen acting techniques carefully designed to enhance believability in a performance.
Techniques includes the Stanislavski and Meisner techniques.
This exercise involves identifying your emotion beats; disregarding the words and focusing on the emotions of the character in the scene. This is followed by acting out the scene without the text. By doing this it achieves three objectives:
1) When you go to learn the script it will not sound learnt-off but natural; as if the words are coming from you.
2) The script will be much easier to learn.
3) It will form the basis for your character exploration.
How do you form a well developed character? We take you through twenty character points to develop a deep and well thought out character. Some of these points are questions to ask yourself about the character that gets you thinking about them in a new light. Some of these points are practical exercises we will practice in class.
The main areas covered in this class are the 'Magic If' and 'Emotional Memory'. Emotional Memory is using an actors personal memories, recreating that feeling and putting it into the character.
This technique is all about being in the moment and connecting with your fellow actor. The starts with the repetition exercise and builds to full natural improvisation.
During the course all students will rehearse and have two showreel scene filmed by working industry professionals. With the benefits of our venuewe have a wide choice of locations for filming including rooms, halls, outside areas and a bar.
We provide real and honest feedback and advice on getting started in the industry. On week six, students in the screen acting course join classes with the filmmaking course (pending availability) giving our acting students a chance to work with new upcoming directors and to network with fellow creatives. We also act as agent to all our acting students, and have connections to all the major casting directors in Ireland.
