Title: 'Doing Time'
Date: Tuesday, December 3rd
Time: 6:15 PM - 8:15 PM GMT

What does it truly mean to “serve” a sentence? How does the passage of time shape the identities and futures of both those within the criminal justice system and the professionals who work in it?
In this compelling lecture, Professor Carr will explore how punishment is enacted and understood in everyday contexts. Drawing on her extensive research with practitioners and individuals who have experienced the system, she will foreground time as a central organising principle, examining its profound role in shaping identities, expectations, and the lived realities of crime and punishment.
This talk is essential for students and professionals in Criminology, Social Work, Law, Sociology, and Psychology, and anyone curious about the complex forces that shape our justice system.
