The Department of Adult and Community Education (DACE) at Maynooth University is hosting its Spring ComMUniversity Network THINK IN on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00 in Renehan Hall, South Campus. This event brings together adult educators, community workers, and practitioners for a day of learning, discussion, and networking.
For this session, DACE has partnered with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the EU-funded REVEL project. The morning session (10:00–12:30) features a keynote by Mado Baboula from the Greek Anti-Poverty Network, titled: “Changing what needs change: Working with the Vulnerable and Reframing their Voice in Practice as Expertise.”
Mado’s presentation will explore real-life social policy challenges in Greece and examine how migrants and other marginalised groups are represented in public discourse, services, and daily interactions. The session highlights the factors affecting participation, dignity, and access to opportunities and offers strategies for reframing narratives in community work. Participants will reflect on ways to engage new communities meaningfully, drawing on examples from the European Anti-Poverty Network and the Greek context as the EU’s entry point. The session is designed to support practitioners, adult educators, and community organisers in creating inclusive spaces and effectively influencing policy to reflect the lived expertise of vulnerable communities.
The afternoon session (14:00–16:00) will host a community-based networking event, open to all attendees, with a light lunch provided.
Places for the THINK IN are limited, and interested participants are encouraged to register early to secure a spot. If you are unable to attend, consider sharing this opportunity with colleagues or others in your network who could benefit. The registration form takes approximately three minutes to complete:
