Breeda Ahern: Office Management Diploma

I had been working in the travel industry for over 8 years and felt that I needed something new and exciting. I wanted to improve my IT skills and also gain other valuable skills in order to find a new career path. I was advised by a Course Advisor that the Office Management Diploma was the most suitable course for my needs. I chose to work and study in an office environment because I wanted to increase my knowledge and gain more experience working in an industry where I was able to use the skills I had learned.

With work commitments I found it very difficult at times to get exams done and I spent most of my Saturdays in both the Tralee and Cork centres to get the course completed. I set a goal for myself when I moved from Tralee to Cork this year that I would have my course completed before the end of the summer. I spent almost every Saturday morning in the Cork centre and if I went home to Tralee at weekends I would also study there. I just kept reassuring myself that it would all be worth it and I have to say it has.

I am now in full time employment working in Cork as a Transport Operations Assistant. I work in the front office of a very busy coach hire company. I am certainly putting my skills to use and I am thoroughly enjoying this new career path. I am very grateful to all the staff in Pitman in both the Cork and Tralee Centres for all their help and support during my studies. I enjoyed my time there and I am very proud of my Diploma.
