Cork Counselling Services is a registered charity and non-profit organisation which provides professional counselling, psychotherapy and training services in the south of Ireland. It is managed jointly by Hugh Morley (Head Of Business), Laura Maybury (Head Of Clinical) and Karen Walsh (Head Of Training). All profits made in training go to ensuring counselling is available regardless of the clients ability to pay.
Formerly known as The Counselling Centre, Cork Counselling Services was founded in the early 1980s by Maria Huss, a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Trainer, who had moved to Ireland from Germany. The south of Ireland did not have a culture of professional counselling and psychotherapy at the time. We were one of the first centres in the south to provide a professional counselling service to members of the community.
From its foundation Cork Counselling Services were in high demand, and in 1989 we were granted charitable status. In spite of limited resources our services are as relevant and necessary today as when we started to work with clients over 35 years ago.
