On Tuesday November 10, the Léargas Research Forum will host presentations focused on the impact and experience of European programmes in Ireland from 2014-2020. This year’s event is being held virtually for the first time.

The Forum will host 6 researchers who will discuss and share their findings, followed by a brief Q&A section.

  • The Impact of Erasmus+ on Modern Foreign Languages in Ireland
    Dr. Britta C. Jung, Irish Research Council Post-doctoral Fellow. This study, co-funded by Léargas and the Higher Education Authority through the Irish Research Council, examines how exposure to foreign languages has influenced attitudes to language learning in Ireland, through engagement with former, current and future Erasmus+ participants, and 19 in-depth interviews with former participants and project co-ordinators.   • Tracing the Impact of European Work Experience on VET learners from Ireland
    Charis Hughes, Léargas. This national research, conducted as part of a wider transnational study, explores the longer-term impact of European work experience on VET learners from Ireland, and the relevance of the training to the needs of learners and employers. Download the presentation

  • Good Practice Case Studies in Erasmus+ Youth Strategic Partnerships
    Anne Molloy, RAY Network/Léargas. This national research, carried out for the RAY (Research-based Analysis of Youth programmes) Network, explores the role, impact and potential of Erasmus+ Youth in Action Strategic Partnerships in fostering innovation and the exchange of good practices in the youth sector.   • Key Action 1 Mobility: Connecting Adult Education in Ireland to its Rich Tapestry of Values, Philosophy and Community of Practice in Europe
    Denise Shannon, Léargas. The Léargas Adult Education Senior Support and Development Officer examines how ETBs have used KA1 mobility in Erasmus+ for Adult Education staff, and how these projects reflect the Adult Education landscape and support policy implementation. Download the presentation
  • Should I Stay or Should I Go? Exploring the Impact of Erasmus+ on Students and Staff in Irish Higher Education
    Dr. Magdalena Staniek, Researcher. This study, commissioned by the Higher Education Authority through the Irish Research Council,  identifies and analyses the effects of Erasmus+ on students and staff in the Irish Higher Education sector.   • Ready, Steady, Bake! eTwinning, Transition and Initial Teacher Education
    Una Murray, Teacher Educator – Trinity College Dublin. This research is part of a PhD study, supported by Léargas, on the relationship between eTwinning and Initial Teacher Education, with specific focus on the profile of eTwinners in Ireland. Download the presentation
