Filmmaking for Adults: Write, Shoot & Edit Your Own Short Film in 7 Weeks with StageScreen Classes - Registering for August 2026

Join StageScreen Classes this August for a unique 7-week part-time filmmaking course for adults, where you’ll be guided through an exciting unique challenging seven week part-time course for adults. Students are taken through the process of writing, directing, shooting and editing their own short films. Guidance on how to get into the industry and critical analysis is also provided.

Workshops in screenwriting, camera, editing, production, and directing actors are also provided by guest tutors. Students use professional industry standard equipment and learn from working industry professionals.

The best films produced are then screened in StageScreen Classes' annual film festival in the Lexicon.

Q and A's with well known directors are included wherever possible. Previous participants have included oscar nominated director Vincent Lambe and Kate Dolan.

Duration - Three hours per week for seven weeks.

Tutors include:

Conor Armstrong Sanfey (Course Co-Ordinator)
Conor is a multi-award winning film and theatre director. His debut feature film 'LIFT' starring Gerard McSorley went on to win awards and secure distribution in the UK, Ireland, US and Canada. Conor is now in pre-production on his next feature film; an adaptation
of an off-broadway musical. Conor set up and has been running StageScreen for ten years.

Peter Cutler (Camera Tutor)
Peter has a degree in Media Production Management from DCU and is a professional freelance cameraman and editor. Over the last number of years he has produced videos for numerous large global corporations, such as Vodafone and Fujitsu, while closer to home has become a regular supplier to the Heritage Council. Productions have included live event capture, music, promotional and online video and overseas documentary. Peter has been our camera tutor for ten years.

Ronika Meryl (Screen Writing)
Ronika is an award-winning screenwriter. She also directs and runs the Wicklow Stories Film Festival. Having placed highly in both the Academy Nicholl Fellowship as well as the Austin Film Festival in 2019 she has since expanded her slate to contain more than 22 feature-length scripts.She is the co-founder of the screenwriting agencty Aicearra representing multiple well-known writers in Ireland. Her textbook for screenwriters "The Hustle" is now available on Amazon.
