The first set of CAO offers has gone out. But don’t worry if you have yet to receive anything. The CAO received over 80,000 applications this year. Of these, only 6,629 applicants have received an offer in this round.

This round of offers went out to those who deferred a place last year and mature applicants. Over 10,000 people over 23 years old applied this year. The CAO assessed and interviewed these potential mature students. Finally, foreign students also received offers this round.

The deadline for acceptance is Thursday, July 13th, at 5.15pm. Anyone who does not accept an offer by that date will no longer be eligible for that place.

Leaving Cert students

A total of 80,345 people applied to the CAO this year. Of that figure, around 46,000 are Leaving Cert students. These students, as well as former school students who did the Leaving Cert in recent years, will receive their offers on Monday 21 August. Around 50,000 offers will go out on this date. Successful applicants will have until Monday 28 August at 5.15pm to accept the offer.

Final round

The final round of approximately 2,000 CAO offers will take place on Thursday 31 August. After date, any free places will be offered individually to students by both post and email.
