
Dublin City of Literature and the Emerging Writers Festival have announced PenPals, a unique international programme designed for emerging writers looking to build global literary connections.
As part of the 2025 Emerging Writers Festival, PenPals will bring together ten writers from Dublin and ten from Melbourne for a series of four guided virtual sessions in September. Participants will have the opportunity to share and develop their work while forming meaningful connections with fellow writers from another UNESCO City of Literature.
The programme will be facilitated by acclaimed poet and editor Panda Wong, author of angel wings dumpster fire, co-editor of Best of Australian Poems 2023, and curator of Darebin Arts inSITU writing programme for 2025. Across the sessions, participants will explore each others literary cultures, exchange creative ideas, and receive constructive feedback in a supportive, collaborative environment.

This is a free opportunity for selected writers. Applications close on 14 July 2025 at 9pm (AET).
