Adult education will take centre stage at the AONTAS Adult Education Summit 2026, taking place on 21st and 22nd October at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Dublin 8.
This year’s summit, organised by AONTAS, will explore the theme “Shaping Europe’s Future through Adult Education”. Taking place during Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the event will bring together people from across the adult and community education sector in Ireland and Europe.
Across two days, learners, community educators, researchers, policymakers, artists and activists will come together to discuss the role adult and community education can play in responding to some of the key challenges facing society.
The programme will include workshops, exhibitions, performances, discussions and debate, with topics ranging from racism and disinformation to participation, belonging and active citizenship.
The summit will also provide an opportunity to showcase the impact of adult and community education in communities throughout Ireland while sharing ideas and experiences with European colleagues and partners.
For anyone involved in adult learning, community education or lifelong learning, the event offers an opportunity to make connections, exchange perspectives and explore how education can contribute to stronger and more engaged communities.
The AONTAS Adult Education Summit 2026 takes place on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd October, from 10am to 4pm each day, at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin 8.
