These courses are suitable for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of directing or developing their existing skills further.
This includes actors and writers who have worked in different areas and want to evolve their work, as well as newcomers who would like a chance to gain knowledge of the tools needed to become a director.
Over the course of ten weeks, we will cover interpretation of text, directing actors, and bringing a full vision to life on stage. Alongside this, the skills of how to run a rehearsal room, and how to communicate with designers and performers will be at the heart of this course. Through discussions, analysis of text and workshops, we will begin developing the skills it takes to become a theatre director and to gain an understanding of the building blocks of the craft. Level 2 will delve deeper into this process and also include insight on developing the story visually and how to work with designers.
