€250 full rate. There is also a concession rate of €100 available to all those retired, over 65s, and those on a government pension / payment plan and the unwaged, including second- and third-level students. Proof of status must accompany the course application form.

Course Content

This course will present an overview of contemporary psychology and introduce participants to cutting-edge research undertaken by School of Psychology staff.

Topics can include:

  • How babies learn to talk.
  • Brain imaging.
  • Using emotions to overcome emotional distress.
  • Perceiving our world.
  • Early adversity and later development.
  • Social neuroscience.
  • Imagination.
  • Dementia.

This course is a lecture-only series, and there are no exams or course work involved. Participants who attend at least 12 out of the 16 lectures will receive a certificate of attendance. The course does not provide an academic qualification.

A welcoming email will be sent in September with more detailed information and the zoom link for the first lecture. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Time and Place

The theatre will be open from 6.30.

The course will run for 16 weeks, commencing Wednesday 9th October 2025. In the first term (Michaelmas) the course runs for 9 weeks, while the second term (Hillary), commencing Wednesday 22nd January 2026, will run for 7 weeks. Classes will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8.15pm and will be held on Trinity College campus and online via Zoom. Course TimeLectures will take place every Wednesday at 7pm in the JM Synge Theatre, in the Arts Building (on campus), Room 2039. You can enter the Trinity campus on Nassau Street. This entrance will remain open until 10.30 pm. The campus can also be accessed through the main entrance on College Green. If you enter the campus from the Nassau Street entrance, the Arts Building is the building on your right. Once you enter the building, the JR Synge Theatre is over towards the left and at the back.
