Introduction to 2D AutoCAD with Architectural Drafting – Griffith College

Build practical, in-demand CAD skills and learn how to create professional 2D drawings used across architecture, engineering, and design.

This 13-week, part-time course—validated by Griffith College—gives you a strong foundation in computer-aided design, equipping you with the skills to produce accurate technical drawings from concept through to final output.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD while also developing core architectural drafting techniques using both traditional and digital methods. By combining these skills, you’ll be able to confidently create, edit, and present drawings to a professional standard.

As CAD is used throughout the entire design process—from initial ideas to detailed working drawings—this course prepares you to contribute effectively in a modern design or construction environment.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Create and edit clear, accurate 2D drawings using AutoCAD
  • Apply essential drafting techniques for architectural design
  • Use key commands and tools to improve efficiency and precision
  • Prepare and format drawings for professional output
  • Understand how CAD fits into real-world design and construction workflows

You’ll also develop a solid foundation for further study or career progression, with the option to advance to more specialised AutoCAD and 3D design courses.
