Philosophy Today is a public lecture series run by the Department of Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin. Designed for anyone with a curiosity about ideas, it requires no prior knowledge of philosophy - just an interest in thinking carefully about the world we live in.
Each series brings together Trinity philosophers to explore how philosophical thinking applies to everyday life: how we work, feel, remember, make decisions, and relate to one another. Topics range across ethics, politics, mind, and society, connecting academic philosophy to questions that matter in everyday life.
The series runs over 12 weeks, with one lecture every second Thursday evening. Each session lasts 90 minutes and includes a 30-minute Q&A, giving participants the chance to engage directly with the speaker. The series is available for in-person attendance only and is not offered online.
Details of the 2027 series will be posted here when available. Information typically goes live in November. Check back then for dates, speakers, and booking details.
