Course Content

The Computing Fundamentals Software Development programme has been updated to reflect the latest skills requirements of major ICT companies in Ireland. TU Dublin places over 80 students into the ICT sector every year and this course reflects feedback from industry collaborators and the increasingly diverse technological landscape.

In its own right the course creates a fundamental understanding of software development processes and enables suitable candidates to undertake roles such as business analyst and represent customer perspectives on agile software teams.

This programme is based on three modules from Year 1 Computing degree programmes. As well as an excellent introduction to computing this course offers the possibility to access follow on programmes leading to degrees in Computing (AI), IT Management and Cloud Computing which are available in the evening. Those who successfully complete the course will have an opportunity to progress onto particular areas such as web development, cloud computing and AI. The modules proposed in software (Python), Systems Analysis and Business and Information Systems will provide students with an understanding of technical issues in computing.

This programme focuses on supplying the demand for software developers with a modern skillset. It combines computer science sought by industry with up to date current hands on skills in areas such as developing for Public Cloud, DevOps, Machine Learning. We have taken inputs from a wide range of ICT Sector companies and organisations such as Amazon AWS, IBM, Microsoft, SAP among others in developing this course.
