Macrame for Beginners

Course Description:

Macrame is a crafting technique that uses knots to create a textile design. The beauty of this technique is that it’s solely done by hand, not with any tool or machine. 

Macrame patterns can be very dense or loose, both creating a challenge for beginners to explore their creativity. It’s a great way to relax and enhance your brain productivity to create something stylish, luxurious and timeless. 

Aim of the course: To learn and enhance brain’s productivity in creating something stylish, luxurious and timeless.

Course content includes:
– Introducing macrame’s history and technique
– Strengths and possibilities of the material
– Basic knots and their making
– Designing pattern from knots
– Design and develop products
– Reuse the scrap

Learning outcome: Learners will be able to
– handle cord and there art work’s dimensions.
– develop product with their own style and technique.
– understand material and it’s limitations.

Course Day & Time:  Thursday evening 7.00 – 9.00 pm

Start Date:  22/02/24 

Cost: €110 (Note: This includes cost of materials for course)

Course Format: In class with tutor

Duration: 6 weeks – Maximum of 10 students in class

Tutor: Kriti Khatri

Kriti is an international Artist and Designer from India who is currently residing in Dublin. She completed her Masters in Design from The National Institute of Design and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Delhi in India. She has closely worked with industries and
conducted workshops for the naval academy in India. Before moving to Ireland she was teaching as an assistant professor in various Design Institute and Universities. Her strength of working with materials and passion for Art and Design brought her new opportunities in Ireland. Today she is a member of DCCI and has been actively conducting workshops, design installation, and has been participating in events like Culture Night, Gifted at RDS, Clonmel Junction Arts Festival and many more across Ireland.
