The QQI level 5 component award in Plant Science will equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to understand plant structure, processes, growth and development in a horticultural context.
Module Content
- Discuss plant anatomy.
- Illustrate secondary thickening
- Describe plant processes and their relationship with environmental factors
- Outline the life cycle and development of plants
- Describe the functions of plant hormones
- Apply Mendel’s Law of inheritance
- Outline processes of conventional plant breeding
- Outline characteristics of micro-organisms
- Investigate the system of plant classification.
