Garden Design – Component Award (QQI level 5)
This Level 5 Garden Design Component Award is a part time module held a our College located on the grounds of the National Botanic Gardens. It will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to devise basic garden designs using the principles of design.The course is divided between classroom lectures (20%) and studio drawing (80%).
A wide range of drafting (hand drawing) exercises will be covered. Students will be introduced to graphic techniques used in landscape plans – site survey, master plan, planting plan and sections.
The principles and elements of garden design will be explained and explored.
Students will draft a garden design proposal for a given site.
Please note additional time will need to be set aside for completing drawings at home and each student is required to have their own “drawing equipment”. A list of required equipment is available from the college.

Present a garden design and concept plan
Implement safe work procedures
This course is suited to anyone with an interest in garden design and hand drafting skills.
