Course Description

Our CELT qualified facilitator, Miriam Stewart, has developed this unique course for the creatively-minded ESL student. In a fun and supportive environment you can improve your language skills through acting techniques, including voice and body work, improvisation, and some script work.

This is a unique course which combines the communicative learning style of an English language lesson with the creativity and spontaneity of a drama class. The original curriculum has been specifically researched and designed to provide an environment that allows language learners to explore the language freely and creatively, whilst also understanding the structure and rules of the grammar.

Each class will focus on a particular tense and the grammar commonly associated with it. The language is explored through drama games, improvisation and scene study with a special focus on exploring grammar points through movement and action. While this provides the underlying foundation for the course, students are encouraged to collaborate with the course facilitator to include materials relevant to their personal experience and reflective of their individual language needs.

The classes are suitable for all levels and designed to allow each learner to progress at their own pace, to challenge themselves or take things slowly depending on their needs. Our emphasis is on each student developing an authentic connection to the English Language for use in the real world.

Class size is limited to 12 students in order to ensure the maximum level of attention for all participants.
