What is Irish Literature? This course attempts to answer that question by reflecting on the past century of writing by reading the work of Walter Macken, William Trevor, Jennifer Johnston, Seamus Heaney, Paula Meehan, Ryan Dennis, Louise Nealon and Alvy Carragher. Through discussion of works and writers from early 20th century right up to 2021, and using interviews, newspaper reviews and other relevant material, participants will gain an appreciation and understanding of Irish Literature as it was in the 20th century, is today and might become in the future. Includes weekly video. Suitable for the literature enthusiast and also ideal for those preparing to attend/return to third level study.
