8 week course

To enable learners to develop skills and confidence to communicate  with other people  at a basic level  while visiting France or other Francophone countries, or to engage with French people in Ireland.

Week 1:Introductions

1. French Introducing yourself and asking someone’s name; finding out how someone is
2. Introducing someone else.
3. Asking and responding to questions about: where you come from; where you live; your nationality; language/s spoken.

Week 2: Work, Hobby, Family, Interests

1. Talking about yourself occupation or main work, hobby or interest, and finding out about someone else
2. Talking about family and asking about someone else’s
3. Telling the class about someone else and their family

Week 3:Places/Directions

1. Greetings and polite requests
2. Places in Fairview – shops and services
3. Vocabulary related to directions.
4. Use of where is/are and there is/are

Week 4: Review of Learning

1. Review of Learning week 3
2. Small group and pair roleplays of : Introductions

Talking about yourself and asking about someone else/ Directions

3. Pairwork: preparing daily routines, morning, afternoon, evening, weekends,

Week 5: Ordering Food

Ordering food in a Cafe

Week 6: Travelling by train or bus

Week 7: Travelling contd. By plane
