Web sites are essential to providing businesses with a presence on the internet. Many products and services are initially researched on web browsers before consumers make purchasing decisions. Getting indexed by popular search engines is heavily dependent on content and external references to one’s site. Good presentation techniques and the use of easily understood terms and phrases will enhance communications and attract business.
The student will understand the structure and nature of a HTML web page. The student will be able to use editors to author and maintain web pages. The will understand style sheets and be able to author simple styles and layouts using CSS in conjunction with HTML. The student will be able to place and replace images on a web page. The student will be able to create links to other pages from the web site. The student will be able to develop and test well-designed websites. The student will be able to use tabs and multi-page features and understand and design good navigation approaches. The student will be able to design, develop and test some dynamic content making use of scripts. The student will understand the security risks of web sites and be aware of the need to use https:// rather than http:// pages.
