Professional Bike Mechanic Course


Become a qualified professional bike mechanic with Rothar!

This Professional Bike Mechanic Course is equally suited for people already working in the cycle industry, who want an internationally recognised qualification, or for keen cyclists interested in taking their maintenance and bike building skills to the next level.

Rothar provides the City & Guilds accredited training course in bike mechanics. Classes take place in our training centre at 131 – 133 Francis st, Dublin 8.

Course Content Overview:

  • 1: Introduction, Health & Safety, Parts of a Bike, Workshop Etiquette, Tyres, Tubes & Puncture Repair
  • 2: Remove and Replace a Cycle Rim Brake Assembly
  • 3: Transmission – Remove & Replace a Cycle Gear Assembly
  • 4: Service Cycle Hubs, cup & cone and sealed cartridge
  • 5: Servicing Headset Assemblies including frame preparation
  • 6: Service Bottom Bracket & Cranks including frame prep
  • 7: Wheel Building
  • 8: Wheel Building Cont’d
  • 9: Augment a Cycle & Systematic Cycle Check
  • 10: Strip and Rebuild, Full change of a cycle frame

We run two types of courses:
1. An intensive course – 4.5 hours a day (9am-1.30pm) for 8 days
2. An evening one as 3 hours per evening (6pm-9pm), two days a week for 7 weeks (42 hours)

Deposit must be paid upon booking of the course.
Full amount is due one week before the course commencment.

Cancellation Policies
If attendance is cancelled:

– With more than 2 weeks notice (14 days) before start learners receive a full refund
– With less than 2 weeks notice, learners will receive a 50% refund of cost of course
– Less than 1 week  – refund will not be provided.

Rothar and Bridge (ChangeWorks training) reserve the right to cancel or postpone a training class if necessary. If the training is cancelled, the learner is entitled to a full refund.
