Bead Making with Adesola

Aim: The aim of this course is to introduce participants to the creative world of jewellery
making of beading. In this course, participants will be introduced to beading tools,
techniques and some beading crafts.

  • Objectives:
    To familiarise participants with beading materials and tools such as pliers,
    threads, and findings etc;
    To introduce participants to the use of threads such as elastic and non-elastic
    threads, cords, tiger tail threads etc;
    To learn how to attach findings and catches
    To introduce participants to simple string beading;
    To introduce participants to the use craft wires;
    To introduce participants to double strings beading;
    To introduce participants to multi strings beading;
    To introduce participants to bead wrapping,

Duration: 10Weeks

Participants will be assessed through projects/tasks

WEEK 1 Introduction to Beading Material, Tools and String beading- (Project- String a bracelet with elastic thread)
WEEK 2 String beading continues (Project – String a single pattern Necklace with non elastic thread and
WEEK 3 Introduction to the properties and use of craft wires- Simple Earrings loops
(Project- Make a set of beaded earrings loops attached to provided hooks )
WEEK 4 Introduction to the use of cords, Tiger Tail thread and crimps
(Project – Make a necklace with Cords or Tiger Tail thread and crimps)
WEEK 5 Double Strings beading-(Project – Make a bracelet and choker)
WEEK 6 Multi String beading-(Project – Make a bracelet or a necklace)
WEEK 7-More craft wire projects with memory wires-(Project: Make a simple choker necklace or bracelet or earrings)
WEEK 8- Introduction to bead wrapping (Project – Make a Clustered wrapped necklace)
WEEK 9-Introduction to knotting
(Project- Make simple knotted necklace)
WEEK 10 Project: Make a necklace with matching bracelet or earring/ring of choice
