Course Description

Drama: Advanced Acting Course Level 6

Kinsale College

Drama: Advanced Acting Course.

The Drama: Advanced Acting Course Level 6 course is delivered in a number of ways. Students participate in practical workshops with regular and visiting staff. In addition, students are expected to work independently on their own and on group projects. Independent work is supervised by staff and is designed to encourage students to create their own work. It helps to gain self-confidence in learning and development.

Core to the teaching practice in Kinsale is belief in an ensemble approach to theatre. Students are considered to be part of a Company, where each actor has a vital contribution to make to the group. During the course, emphasis is placed on devising original work through improvisation, as well as the study and performance of existing play texts. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own path in the Theatre workplace. They are given the tools to either devise their own work or to audition for existing companies and theatres.
