This July, you are invited to An Cosán VCC’s Open Day in their learning Hub.

  • Date: Wednesday 3rd July 2019
  • Time: 10.00am-18.00pm
  • Venue: An Cosán VCC, 4-5 Ushers Court, Usher Quay, Dublin 8

An Cosán’s holistic, learner-centered model puts you, the learner at the heart of all they do. Everyone who comes through the door of An Cosán speaks of the warmth, welcome and visible spirit of care that is present. An Cosán is here to help you succeed through the model of life long community education. They provide people of all ages with pathways to learning, leadership and social enterprise. An Cosán offers a variety of affordable short programmes: ‘First step back to Education’, through to a wide range of options in community, further and higher education programmes including early years education and care, wellness, parenting, community development, leadership, addiction studies and social enterprise.

Their accredited programmes offer progression paths towards Certificate, Higher Certificate and BA Degree awards and all our higher education programmes are accredited through our collaborative partnership with Institute of Technology Carlow. Our programmes aim to support you to develop your own capacities and experience a sense of empowerment in your life and community. Within the lifetime of the current Strategic Plan 2018-2021, all our programmes will be delivered within the European Commission’s Digital Competence Framework. A key element of work is the development of a critical digital mindset, which prepares individuals to be adaptable and versatile in the face of ongoing and potentially far-reaching changes to the digitalization of societies. They focus on developing the ‘digital agency’ of individuals in terms of their development as digital citizens and digital workers.

Discover your full potential

You can attend face to face classes in An Cosán in Tallaght West or access programmes through the blended online learning model with An Cosán’s Virtual Community College (VCC) from anywhere in Ireland. Through the Virtual Community College, An Cosán is now working with local Community Partners across Ireland to bring programmes and holistic approach to address local barriers and challenges at a local level. The VCC empowers people to learn anywhere, at any time, using the latest virtual, online and mobile technologies.

It’s for adults of all ages from 18 years up. If you are ready to learn, they offer a practical alternative to guide you along the path of learning, helping at every step.

Who are the programmes aimed at?

1. Early school leavers

Did you leave school early, or maybe you just want to learn a new skill? Their further education and training programmes will help you take the next step. They are building a range of post primary courses for learners, helping you prepare for employment or higher education.

2. Continuous Professional Development

In the Community Education sector, they know the challenges of developing skills and competencies with limited time and resources. An Cosán VCC offer a new, creative approach to continuous professional development with the Accredited Higher Education Blended Learning Programmes.

3. Those seeking Higher education options

Through online learning, their students can access a range of higher education options that might not have been possible before. Cost is no longer a barrier, and you can fit your learning around your own schedule. As a VCC learner, you are encouraged to actively engage with your own learning and valuable networking opportunities are available through their learning community.
