Who we are

The Grafton Academy is a small private college with a very direct and practical approach to training for the Clothing Trade and  Associated Industries.  The college bases its reputation on being able to equip the graduates  with skills and techniques for the garment industry worldwide. Manufacturers and Designers apply to the Grafton Academy for graduates for all areas, from high street fashion, bridal wear, lingerie, film, theatre, advertising and more

Professional 3 year full-time diploma in Fashion Design for the Clothing Industry.

Evening courses for Diploma and for those who wish to Design and make for themselves.

Pattern-making

Garment Assembly

Short Introductory Summer Holiday Courses for all ages in Design, Pattern Making, Sewing. Also Dress Making from a Commercial Pattern.
Dates: Weeks of your choice, from Monday 16th June to 15th August 2008.

In addition to Fashion Design courses at the Grafton Academy, they also run the following Short Intensive Classes, giving more opportunity to learn skills and techniques in stages and perhaps open up new horizons, either for hobbies or new careers.

Beading 2 days workshop summer special
This is an introduction into Beading/Embellishment for beginners and the more advanced student.You will learn by customising a garment, eg a skirt, trousers, dress jacket or accessory.

4-Day Summer Holiday Course in beaded jewellery, classical beading and embroidery.
Each day you will have a 'hands on' tuition into these techniques.

2 Day Mixed Media Embroidery Workshop
For people with previous basic sewing skills, this course will focus on the scaling up of hand stitches, creating texture and surface pattern with threads and fabric, creating your own distinctive style for fashion, accessories or interiors.

Creative Felt: 2 Day Workshop
Learn how to make and develop felt fabric suitable for interiors or accessories.

Creative Free Machine Embroidery: 2 Day Workshop
Students should have previous sewing machine experience. This course is not suitable for those wishing to do Irish dance costumes as it is a free and more experimental style suitable for Fashion, accessories or indeed interiors.

Machine Knitwear Design - Basic to Advanced levels.
Here is an opportunity to gain a practical understanding of machine knitting techniques with 'one to one' tuition and hours to suit yourself by arrangement during some days, evenings or weekends. It is a total of 25 hours and the cost for tuition is €698.
